Okay so since the community is so inundated with soooo many hoaxes on an almost daily basis, it’s gonna be hard to just list a few of them in a listy type fashion.
So let’s establish some ground rules
I’ve drawn a clear line between the Forest People and Bigfoot All right?
Some of you don’t think their two different things
I find it’s easier to say that, then to continually squabble between Flesh n Blooders and Woo
No one ever said it couldn’t be two different things
So we’re gonna ignore people like Waterman who post stumps and things and then say it’s Forest People because this is about Bigfoot hoaxes and not Forest People
Only going to mention deliberate hoaxes that people committed to. Not all the assholes that post videos and pictures then vanish
I also won’t be touching the Falcon Project or the Justin Smeja story. The Falcon project because it was a hurtful con that should just be forgotten and the Smeja story because I don’t need to deal with the heat from his detractors and supporters, there’s also never going to be any proof either way unless he confesses or finds the bodies
Can’t go around slinging mud without a list of reasons to back it up, if that’s a problem for you, I suggest you stop reading now

I’ve actually argued with forest people researchers about this video, which is weird cos when you think about it, they’d be the first ones to call BS on this
Cos you know it just sits there and doesn’t offer to enlighten them
So why is this video a hoax? To figure that out you gotta go look at the extended Hour Long clip show version of the video
- He’s wandering through the woods very loudly in his crocs, anyone that has any tracking experience at all can tell you he’s as stealthy as an elephant trying to sneak up on a bat. The thing knows he’s there but for some reason instead of bolting off it just sits there.
- This is visible even in the original 2 minute version. You can see wrinkles at the back of the creatures head that prove it’s a costume and not actually living skin
- There’s a jogger near the end of the video, just jogging past
- He turns the video around to face his face. During a Bigfoot Sighting Video. He turns the camera around to his face. Unless he’s the most narcissistic person on planet earth, who would do that?
- He signals whoevers in the costume to walk away by hitting a tree with his bat, as I mentioned before it already knew he was there. Unless it was a deaf, noseblind and pretty stupid
- There’s a dog yipping at the end again, small dog barks
- ThinkerThunder says it’s legit
- He never uploaded an unedited version of that video and there was a ton of edits in the original 2 minute version.. WHY
Combine that with the 10 thousand dollar challenge and you got some very good reasons why this is one of my all time favorites hoaxes in Bigfoot history

Rather than list his hoaxes seperately and just have a list of Rick Dyer, let’s just roll it into one shall we?

But my favorite personally has to be the “Hank In A Box” Hoax
Okay so we all knew it was fake right?
He knew it was fake
People were blogging it was fake, news reporters were saying on TV it was a fake, Youtubers were saying it was fake
Everyone knew it was fake
Here’s the kicker, he still took it on tour and while I doubt he made as much money as he claimed he did, he still took it on tour and made money off it
HOW
He had literally everyone against him!!!!
Thom Cantrell reckons he’s part Forest Person right? I gotta say that maybe Rick Dyer is as well cos he pulled off some for real Jedi Mind shit to accomplish that
It’s a testament to Rick Dyers stubborness, sociopathy, ruthless aggression and lack of empathy that he ever went anywhere
With a frankly terrible Bigfoot body that looked nothing like the Tent Video or the Bigfoot from Shooting Bigfoot
And he WILL do it again that’s the worst part
And there’s nothing you or I can do

What do you call a man, that claims he has his own private habituation site that no one else can reach, apparently three different types of Bigfoot, Dr Meldrum, Les Stroud AND A production company in his corner?
One helluva hoaxer that’s what
Of all the Bigfoot Communities many hoaxers, Standing has always stood out as the guy with the most cash backing him
If this was Professional Wrestling he would be The Million Dollar Man Ted Diabse
He was always pretty clear in his intentions, he just wanted money and attention
He once tried to get Bigfoot on the Endangered species list
He once allegedy hid from rescuers to get on a TV show… Okay I can’t prove that but you just gotta look at his M/O
And Despite the fact that his bigfoot photo’s look so incredibly fake
He still got support
From Dr Meldrum of all fucking people
What a betrayal
His shining moment though was putting up a GOFUNDME for 900 thousand dollars, in return though he was going to release his absolute proof that Bigfoot existed
As if that was ever going to get funded
Ballsy double bluff though

Not really a hoaxer in the same sense that the others are
He doesn’t post pictures of other things and say they are Bigfoot
He does however exploit national tragedies and somehow thinks it’s completely okay
Hikers go missing all the time, it’s a horrible thing for the friends and family not a source material for a book on Bigfoot kidnapping people
And Yes! I know he doesn’t ever specifically say it’s Bigfoot
He just heavily implies it
And it is a hoax because in several of his books he mentions missing hikers that have actually been found
So neenah neenah

Tom Biscardi is a hoaxer of biblical proportions
A man that has hung around for decades
Hoaxing and making a pretty good profit out of it
His most notable cons have been of course the ole “Bigfoot Captured on Pay Per View” Hoax. One of my favorites this, he claimed to have a Bigfoot in captivity and then charged people on his website to see it via webcam
How awesome is that?
Of course he didn’t, got sued, had to give most of the money back but ended up with a nice cute profit of a couple million
Walking around money
He was also involved heavily in the 2008 Freezer Hoax
Introduced the world to Rick Dyer
And claimed he has some Bigfoot Bones

I can’t write who was behind this one because honestly I don’t bloody know!
Ed Smith?
Team Quantra?
The MACBRO?
It was such a bloody convoluted hoax that I still really have no clue who was behind it and why
Here’s the basics
Team Quantra were a group of Bigfooters tied to the MACBRO, who texted Ed Smith in the middle of the night to say: Daisy Was In The Box
Who the fuck was Ed Smith?
Who the fuck was Daisy?
What did it bloody all mean?!?!
Well it was part of an elaborate hoax that had been plotted for years, I still couldn’t tell you why though
Money? Attention?
It dragged on for awhile until it was busted open, but unlike a couple of other hoaxes I didn’t fall for this one. Pat on the back for me
It was used as a running joke in the community for like a year after

UNKNOWN PRIMATE ARM!

Basically Stacy put on Facebook that he and his group of merry squatchers had found an Alligator Arm and said it was an UNKNOWN PRIMATE ARM, deliberately in my opinion for sensalization
The hilarious upside of this little debacle was Todd Disotell tweeting that he’d send Stacy a Pop up book of Biology for christmas
Oh. My. God. I laughed so hard

Facebook FindBigfoot were a group of people on Facebook and Youtube that confirmed hoaxes
Badly
But they were hilarious
Kind of like an older version of ThinkerThunder, who doesn’t make this list because;
Come on, who cares about him
My best memories of these guys is when they confirmed a video by South Jersey Squatch who said; What? There wasn’t a sasquatch there! And took the footage elsewhere to have it re investigated
Also when they christened Rick Dyer Bigfooter of the Year was pretty funny
Even funnier when their alliance with him caused them to have to shut down
Now that’s Irony in action
I miss them because they were amusing as hell and their videos were the stuff of insanity

Known to have hoaxed audio recordings by playing them backwards, buying a kids BB gun and saying it was a DNA Dart gun, using the same video for Bigfoot and his Paranormal Channel and many many more
The dudes pretty much an OG Hoaxer because I can’t remember a time when he wasn’t out there doing stuff
