This baby popped up on my newsfeed today and I couldn’t help but make comment. For those of you that do not know it is an old hoax and it is called The Myakka Skunk Ape photos. It’s a shame it’s a hoax because as pictures go it’s bloody awesome and I for one was disappointed when the news broke it wasn’t real.
O.k so the story is an old woman’s house was being visited nightly by an animal that was stealing food and worrying her dogs. She started leaving food out purposefully to try and catch it, then one night spied it in the bushes and managed to take a couple of snaps. These are the pictures.
The reason we know it’s a hoax are because Investigators went to the house in question and discovered it was a suburban home with no real woods around. Also the proof is in the picture if you want to look closely. There are two palm fronds attached to the costume on the mouth and the front of the hands. You can see it moves with the being in question. Investigators reckon it was done to hide parts of the rug that would make it obvious it was a costume.
Not as obvious as Matilda though lol.
There you have it readers, the myakka skunk ape. A hoax but a really cool one.
