Yup it’s getting close to that time of the year again. I remember back in May when we were all so happy to see the Swallows, Martins and Swifts return from Africa. Soon they will depart on their perilous journey again back to their winter feedings grounds but hey they’ll all be back next year hopefully.

Luckily UKip didn’t win the general election so they’ll be no hold up on the border for them. You think i’m kidding but I bet that was Farrage’s ultimate game plan. Start with people then start working on the animal migrants we get on British shores. Then you’d get stuck behind the Osprey in the customs que on you’re way back from holiday while they drill it over weather or not it has a valid UK passport.

Winter is always my favorite time of year because it’s often the easiest time to spot animals foraging for food. A lot more different birds frequent Bird feeders in the winter months and I’m excited to see what kind of animals we get in our garden.

That being said the Spring and Summer is the only time of year to see the Migrant animals which of course includes the Swifts, Swallows, House Martins and Sand Martins. There’s probably an umbrella term for this kind of Bird but I don’t know it and I have a rule about blogging about stuff I don’t know. I refuse to look it up lol.

Every spring these delightful little birds fill our skies and nest on our rooftops. Performing miracles of avian acrobatics and are the definitive symbol of British Summertime. A long with skylarks obviously lol.

One of the great things about the new house was all the bird’s nests dotted around the main house and outbuildings. We got swallows and martins up the ying yang and it’s really marvelous to behold them. But sadly as Summer draws to a close we say So long to our pretty little friends.
